NZ Steel have long been implementing initiatives to reduce waste and minimise impact on the environment. They were actively involved in the sustainable building movement and are also shareholders in BEACON, which was running the NOW homes project, a research programme creating healthier homes that reduce impact on the environment. Also contributing to this is NZ Steel's use of Unique local resource and the Extraction of iron sand processes which are under continual improvement. Other key areas include their Recycling and Capital investment plans.
