CLAAS Harvest Centre

In for the Long Haul

A vast, state-of-the-art facility demanded the very best in design, construction, and materials — which is why the new CLAAS Harvest Centre – Landpower’s agricultural and retail hub near Christchurch Airport — was roofed and clad using Dimond products.

Visible from the air when landing from the south, the Yaldhurst facility brings together retail, training, support, and office functions in one sleek, purpose-built centre. Among its many impressive features is what is believed to be the longest continuous-length warm roof in the country.

The Roofing Solution

The 1300m² administration space is topped with 66.9m x 20m lengths of Dimond’s DD630 DARS Vented 120mm Advanced Roofing System, creating a warm, dry, quiet, and condensation-free environment for staff. The system’s layered build accelerates construction, provides a safe working platform, and eliminates the need for surface penetration thanks to its hidden clip system — reducing the risk of leaks.

The warm roof also offers vented and non-vented options and is available in multiple finishes, with the ability to produce extremely long, seamless stretches that preserve architectural lines.

Architectural Excellence

For Sheppard & Rout Architects, warm roofing was a matter of best practice. The challenge? Achieving a continuous finish over a roof more than 60 metres long. The solution came in the form of Dimond’s system, which allowed the top layer to be rolled out in one continuous length using a specialised machine.

“We’re pleased with the outcome and detail we were able to achieve.”
Tim Dagg, Director, Sheppard & Rout Architects

Beyond the Roof

Dimond products were used throughout the facility, which was constructed by Apollo Projects. The office was clad in V-Rib, while the 5000m² warehouse utilised DP955 cladding.

This landmark facility not only showcases architectural innovation but also supports Landpower’s operations across Australasia — from parts and shipping to IT, training, and sales.

“To have the product used back to back was pretty awesome. These are high-end architectural jobs.”
Chris Silcock, Senior Specification Manager, Dimond Roofing
